This is not a drill: Nearly two years after season 2 of Cobra Kai premiered on YouTube, the third season is set to premiere — and in its new home. Netflix added the first two seasons last summer after acquiring the Karate Kid continuation from the now-defunct streaming service YouTube Premium, but the first new-to-the-world episodes are officially set to premiere in January 2021.

The New Year is set to bring a bounty of TV- and movie-related gifts to your screen, including the bonkers Nicolas Cage–hosted comedy series History of Swear Words, an investigation into the origin and cultural impact of curse words; comics adaptation Fate: The Winx Saga; and a slew of original films, including Pieces of a Woman, which has earned raves for The Crown star Vanessa Kirby; Penguin Bloom, starring Naomi Watts; Outside the Wire, starring Damson Idris and Anthony Mackie.

Find out what else is joining them on Netflix and what’s leaving the service below.

HIGHLIGHTS

Cobra Kai: Season 3 (2021)

90%

Description: Cobra Kai season 3 takes place over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). Season 3 finds everyone reeling in the aftermath of the violent high school brawl between their dojos, which has left Miguel in a precarious condition. While Daniel searches for answers in his past and Johnny seeks redemption, Kreese further manipulates his vulnerable students with his own vision of dominance. The soul of the Valley is at stake, and the fate of every student and sensei hangs in the balance.

Premiere Date: January 2021

Description: An education in expletives: the history lesson you didn’t know you needed. History of Swear Words, hosted by Nicolas Cage, is a loud and proudly profane series that explores the origins, pop culture-usage, science, and cultural impact of curse words. Through interviews with experts in etymology, pop culture, historians and entertainers, the six-episode series dives into the origins of “F–k”, “S–t”, “B—h”, “D–k”, “P—y”, and “Damn.” History of Swear Words features Joel Kim Booster, DeRay Davis, Open Mike Eagle, Nikki Glaser, Patti Harrison, London Hughes, Jim Jefferies, Zainab Johnson, Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, Baron Vaughn, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.

Premiere Date: January 5, 2021

Pieces of a Woman (2020)

76%

Description: A heartbreaking home birth leaves a woman grappling with the profound emotional fallout, isolated from her partner and family by a chasm of grief.

Critics Consensus: Pieces of a Woman struggles to maintain momentum after a stunning opening act, but Vanessa Kirby’s performance makes the end result a poignant portrait of grief.

Premiere Date: January 7, 2021

Description: Fate: The Winx Saga follows the coming-of-age journey of five fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where they must learn to master their magical powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence. From creator Brian Young (The Vampire Diaries), Fate: The Winx Saga is a live-action reimagining of the Italian cartoon Winx Club from Iginio Straffi.

Premiere Date: January 22, 2021

The White Tiger (2021)

92%

Description: The ambitious driver for a rich Indian family uses his wit and cunning to escape from poverty and become an entrepreneur. Based on the bestselling novel and starring Rajkummar Rao and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
