Jan de Bont‘s
on again/off again project
Stopping Power

seems to be on again, as actress
Melissa George
is getting ready to film it. The action/thriller has a high concept that seems
to take Speed‘s bus
that couldn’t slow down to the next level.

"John
Cusack
and I play lovers and we go on a European vacation to Berlin," said
George. "She’s just a sassy one with long, dark hair so I’ve got to color my
hair again. And his daughter comes on holiday with us and I never knew he had a
daughter.  She’s 16.  We are fighting, fighting and fighting, and she gets
kidnapped.  So John and I and this bad guy with the daughter gone in this 51
minute real time high speed chase in Berlin."

A veteran of TV’s
Alias

and action packed horror movies like
Turistas
and
30 Days of Night
,
George is prepared to serve the plot more than her own acting chops. "There
won’t be much dialog.  A lot of driving.  It’s just an action film.  I really
wanted to do it. It’s just fun.  I want to go to work and have fun."

So far, in preproduction, George has been game for anything
de Bont throws her way. "[I’ll do] everything, I imagine.  Everything and
anything.  I said, ‘No, no, I’m up for a challenge."
