From Art of Noise duet partner to satanic supervillain.

In a bit of news that should bring a smile to the face of anyone old enough to remember 1988, Matt Frewer — the actor who rose to fame as the Coke-shilling disembodied head known as Max Headroom — has joined the cast of Zack Snyder‘s Watchmen.

MTV Movies reports that Frewer will play Moloch the Mystic, “a satanic supervillain and magician.” From the article:

In the graphic novel, Moloch clashes with famous “masks” like Nite Owl, Ozymandias, and Doctor Manhattan, before giving up his life of crime sometime before the action of the novel begins. Rehabilitated, the former vice lord moves to New York City, where he lives alone until his murder in 1985. His dead body is discovered by Rorschach, who is framed for Moloch’s death.

The character is noted for his devilish appearance, which includes elfish, pointed ears.

It isn’t the biggest of roles for Frewer — nor is it the long-overdue DVD release of the Max Headroom TV series (seriously, ABC, what’s the holdup?) — but it’ll do.
