"Kung Fu Hustle" Dominates HK Film Awards With 16 Noms

Stephen Chow’s "Kung Fu Hustle" received nominations in 16 of 19 available categories for the 24th Hong Kong Film Awards, Variety reports. The only categories the movie didn’t receive a nomination in are supporting actress, original song, and Asian film. Wong Kar Wai’s "2046" received 12 noms including those for film and director, and Derek Yee‘s "One Night in Mongkok" received 11. Stephen Chow will compete with Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Jackie Chan, Alex Fong, and Daniel Wu for best actor honors. Zhang Ziyi will battle it out with Sylvia Chang, Yuen Qui, Karena Lam, and Cecilia Cheung for best actress. Winners will be announced in a ceremony held on March 27th. "Kung Fu Hustle" will be shown in select theaters March 18th.
