When Daniel Craig told the Daily Express that the next Bond movie would be funnier, fans assumed the franchise was going back to the Roger Moore days. Screenwriter Paul Haggis cleared up that rumor.

“No, he was joking,” said Haggis. “That was humor. No, it’s what you saw in Casino Royale, you’ll see in this. He has a wicked sense of humor. Everybody went, ‘Oh my God’ and they latched onto that.”

Haggis, who wrote Casino Royale also, has almost completed the first act of his screenplay, which is due in the next few months. “I’m having a great time and I’m on page 22. I’d get to page 23 if you guys just leave me alone for a few hours. It’s supposed to start in December. I’m on page 22.”

Don’t worry, though. Bond always comes in on time. “Oh yeah, of course it will be. I just started this week. It’ll be good. I’m really looking forward to it.”
