Live near an IMAX theater? Prepare to enjoy a year of gloating to your not-as-fortunate fellow filmgoers.
The IMAX Corporation — which had already announced supersize runs for Martin Scorsese‘s Shine a Light, the Wachowski brothers’ Speed Racer, the Jack Black-starring DreamWorks ‘toon Kung Fu Panda, and, of course, The Dark Knight — let slip on Friday that they’re all set to give Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince a simultaneous IMAX release when it bows November 21. Oh, and wait — Richard L. Gelfond, IMAX Co-Chairman and Co-CEO, has more news:
Our release of ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ is scheduled for November, and we expect that as with ‘Harry Potter 5,’ certain sections of the film such as the finale will be presented in IMAX 3D. We are currently working on adding another film for release in September or October and look forward to announcing this addition to our 2008 slate.
Yep, IMAX isn’t even done for the year yet — sometime between July 18 and November 21, they want to bring another release to their big, big screens. What’s it going to be, folks? Make your guesses now!
