Filmmaker Alex Proyas recently dropped a little message board hint that should soon overwhelm the moviegeek sites and cause all sorts of feverish chit-chat. The buzz is twofold: 1. Apparently there’s a "Dark City" Special Edition DVD on the way from New Line, which isn’t all that much of a shock, and 2. Might there be a "Dark City" SEQUEL?
From a site called Mystery Clock by way of good ol’ JoBlo: "Proyas himself had this to say when asked about it recently on his official site: "DC was hardly a smash hit at the box office so it is unlikely, if a sequel was made, they’d give me a huge budget to work with. So don’t worry too much about that! I am more and more interested in the idea of a sequel, and who knows, after the special edition comes out, with everyone’s support behind it, a sequel…maybe who knows…but I’ve already said too much."
(Yes, I’m among those who "discovered" and "fell crazy in love with" Dark City when it first hit DVD, so color me very intrigued. Especially if Jennifer Connelly gets to come back.)
