Wonder Woman is just the beginning: Here’s 23 more female superheroes that break down the boy’s club of the comic book movie-and-TV game!
Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, which has lassoed the DC Extended Universe its first
rave reviews.
Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, which just wrapped its second season and will be back
in the Fall.
Evangeline Lilly will don her own power suit to become the titular newcomer in Ant-Man
and the Wasp, which opens in theaters 2018.
Tessa Thompson will make her superhero debut as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok.
Jamie Alexander will be back as Sif, Goddess of War, in the imminent Thor:
Ragnarok.
Batgirl will get her big screen solo debut in the future, courtesy of Avengers
writer/director Joss Whedon.
We just saw Zoe Saldana as Gamora go hermana-a-hermana against Nebula in Guardians
of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and she’ll be back for Avengers: Infinity War and the
third Guardians.
Serinda Swan (L) as Medusa and Isabelle Cornish as Crystal in Inhumans, premiering
on ABC this September.
Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow spun a complicated web in Captain America: Civil
War, and of course she appears again in the next Avengers.
Oscar-winner Brie Larson will take on the Captain Marvel mantle in 2019, just before the
final(?) Avengers film closes the Third Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
X-Men: The New Mutants is under wraps, but among the scant casting announcements
are Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane…
…and Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik.
Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, one of the brighter spots in critically drubbed Iron
Fist.
Daisy Johnson no more: Chloe Bennett became Quake over the course of the past few Agents
of S.H.I.E.L.D. seasons.
Olivia Holt is one-half of teenage mutant couple Cloak & Dagger, which will
premiere on Freeform in January 2018.
The Gifted is an upcoming FOX show about young folks grappling with emerging mutant
powers set in the X-Men universe. Emma Dumont is portraying Polaris in her first
live-action appearance.
And Jamie Chung is Blink, who we previously saw in Days of Future Past, played by
Fan Bingbing.
We imagine Liz Sherman won’t look like Selma Blair when the just-announced
Hellboy reboot comes out.
Elizabeth Olsen as the weirding Scarlet Witch, soon to be back for Avengers: Infinity
War, natch.
Though the second season is still a ways off, we get to see Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones
again in 2017’s The Defenders series.
Simone Missick as Detective Misty Knight, counterpoint in Netflix’s Luke Cage.
Legends of Tomorrow has a robust gallery of female superheroes, from the
resurrected Sara, now going as White Canary (played by Caity Lotz)…
… Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Vixen…
…and Ciara Renee’s Hawkgirl (okay, maybe we won’t see too much more of her).
