Every Minute Counts: 24 Real-Time Movies

In Money Monster, a financial TV host (George Clooney) gets his show taken over by an angry audience member. The twist: it’s all in real-time (i.e. the 98 minutes it takes to watch this is the exact amount of time that passes in the movie), inspiring this gallery of 24 more in-the-moment movies.

I thought Real Time with Jay Baruchel and Randy Quaid was an excellent Real Time movie.

somebody help me. How do you view these as a slideshow?

    • Rahul Sarode

Click on any of the photos.

Nice concept, but … no room for “Night on Earth” (71%)?
And, yes it’s a turkey, but “88 minutes” fits right in here (and certainly deserves more than 5%).

  • Nice selection of movies!

‘Victoria” is fantastic! A wonderful use of single-shot real-time filming. As the tension builds up, it pulls you along with it, never giving you a chance to recover until the end, where it just leaves you breathless and a bit confused–but confused in a good way, like you would after any crazy real-life event, where you have to take a second and run the memories through your head to figure out how it all got to this point. Admittedly, parts of the sequence of events seem to happen faster than they probably would in real life… but still, a SINGLE SHOT!

Many of these are not actually in real time.

Hermitage is more of a single-shot epic than a “real time” movie. Excellent, beautiful…but covering Russian history in one movie is hardly “Real Time”

  • Martin Zandstra

    Where’s High Noon?….

    • Joseph McMahon

I see it on there. Second to bottom panel. 🙂

      • Martin Zandstra

        I’ve seen it too

Nobody has mentioned Bruce Campbell in “Running Time”? Seriously, I thought movie fans came to this website.
