The trophies have been handed out, the champagne has been drunk, and the dust has finally settled from the 2019 Emmy Awards, but who ultimately came out on top in the battle for network supremacy? As it turns out, it may not have been a “network” at all, considering major contenders from streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu shook up the proceedings, and HBO’s own Game of Thrones racked up a record 32 nominations all by itself. The night wasn’t without its upsets either, as we saw a few surprising wins in categories like Drama – Directing, Drama – Supporting Actress,  and Comedy – Lead Actress, just to name a few of the big ones.
