WGN America delved into original scripted programming with this year’s Salem, which premiered to mixed reviews and a rotten Tomatometer score of 54 percent. The network is trying again now with Manhattan, a 1943 period piece about the “The Manhattan Project,” the construction of the atomic bomb in Los Alamos, NM. The new show premieres on July 27.
