Syfy’s space opera The Expanse kicks off season 2 with a double-episode premiere on February 1. Get an early look now with this debut of the series’ second trailer.

Based on the New York Times bestselling book series collectively known as “The Expanse,” written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pen name James S. A. Corey), the series stars Thomas Jane (Hung), Steven Strait (Magic City), and Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog). Other series regulars are Dominique Tipper (Vampire Academy), Cas Anvar (Olympus), and Wes Chatham (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay films).

Set 200 years in the future, The Expanse tells the story of a hardened detective (Jane) and a rogue ship’s captain (Strait), whose respective paths bring them together to uncover a vast conspiracy that stretches across space. From U.N.–controlled Earth to militarized Mars through the colonized moons of Jupiter and the Asteroid Belt, political turmoil and social unrest threaten to spark war in the solar system.

The Expanse season 1 is currently available to stream on Amazon
