For a while there it looked like Vin Diesel was going to star in Fox’s big-screen version of the "Hitman" video game … but now it looks like "Deadwood" star Timothy Olyphant (who stole most of "The Girl Next Door") has earned that assignment.
From IGN Movies, who got it from AICN: "The cat is out of the bag and Vin Diesel is out of Hitman, the feature film version of the best-selling videogame. Diesel had been attached to star and executive produce the Fox-based film.
Now comes word, via Ain’t It Cool, that Timothy Olyphant has been attached to star. Furthermore, action icon Luc Besson will now co-produce the project.
Skip Woods penned the screenplay. AICN claims Woods’ script was strong enough to finally get the project green-lit by Fox. The studio advised IGN, however, that Hitman has not been green-lit and remains in development status."
