Moviegoers looking for something other than the typical holiday fare that normally springs up around November will have at least one balls-to-the-wall alternative, courtesy of producer J.J. Abrams. This week’s Overlord pits a group of U.S. paratroopers against Nazi-concocted supernatural evil in a visceral genre mash-up, and early reviews can’t get enough of its gory thrills.
Ahead of its November 9 release, director Julius Avery and stars Pilou Asbæk, Jovan Adepo, Mathilde Ollivier, John Magaro, Wyatt Russell, and Iain de Caestecker sat down with RT to break down the intense opening scene of the film, talk about working with practical, in-camera special effects, and explain why the mix of genres is such a fun combination.
Overlord opens everywhere on November 9.
