Netflix is in for another Wet Hot American Summer. After the success of its recent prequel, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, the 2001 indie comedy hit will be getting yet another incarnation. This one will be set 10 years after the original and presumably follow the gang from Camp Firewood during the reunion the campers promised to have in the final scene of the movie. The aptly named, Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later, is expected to hit Netflix in the summer 2017.

Cinephiles rejoice, Turner Classic Movies and The Criterion Collection are teaming up to bring arthouse, indie, foreign and cult films to a streaming service near you! FilmStruck will be an ad-free service, and will include a specific channel for Criterion – featuring admired labels such as Janus Films, Flicker Alley, Icarus, Kino, Milestone and Zeitgeist and promises to be the film lovers’ dream destination. The streaming service is also part of Turner’s overall strategy to broaden its scope across platforms beyond traditional television. Turner and Criterion have not released the cost of the service yet, but we can expect to get our serious movie lover hats on this fall.

ON-SET TENSION LEADS TO REPLACEMENT OF SENSE8 LEAD

sense8
Aml Ameen, star of Netflix original Sense8, has been replaced by newbie Toby Onwumere in the role of Capheus “Van Damme” for season two. The departure was abrupt and the details are vague, but sources feel it stemmed from a conflict between the actor and co-creator/executive producer/director Lana Wachowski during a table read that grew during production in India. Ameen left after shooting a couple episodes while the less-than-informative phrase “creative differences” was rumored to have been tossed around. Social media posts by cast members indicate that filming has now relocated to Italy.
