Wes Craven may be on a roll producing remakes of "The Hills Have Eyes," "Last House on the Left," and even "The People Under the Stairs," but he doesn’t have the final say in all of his films.
With "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" being revisited, it seems inevitable that someone would want to reboot "A Nightmare on Elm Street." But should any such ideas be under discussion, they are happening without Freddy Kreuger’s creator.
"I don’t know whether it’s inevitable," said Craven of the idea. "I wouldn’t be surprised but I haven’t heard anything. Seriously, I haven’t heard anything but that doesn’t surprise me."
It’s industry standard as Craven knows it. New Line has made a lucrative franchise out of Nightmare on Elm Street and though they invited him back to do part 7, he’s not their go-to guy. "They own the franchise. Nobody called me on "Freddy Meets Jason" either, so it’s their piece of property."
