New RT Column: Meet a Critic (With Richard Roeper)!

The esteemed critic will also host a live chat on Thursday.

Our readers come to Rotten Tomatoes for primarily one
reason: movie reviews. (That, and maybe to bicker on the forums about DVD cover
art.) As we gradually roll out the new RT, we’ll be implementing exciting
new ways users can organize and interact with reviews and their authors. To compliment our new focus, RT is introducing a regular
column we’ve dubbed Meet a Critic, launching this Wednesday!

Print and online, rising, popular, and even controversial:
each Meet a Critic will acquaint you with some of your favorite writers.
For the first MaC, we’ve lined up
Richard Roeper,
Chicago Sun-Times critic whose reviews are consistently commented on at RT (and a lot of it is
praise, not just asterisk-dotted words!). We’ve subjected Roeper to a battery of
deeply personal inquiries, including questions about favorite films, guilty
pleasures, formative film-going experiences, and his early days co-hosting his
TV show with Roger Ebert. Keep an eye out for the interview this Wednesday.

And on Thursday, December 6th, Roeper will host
a live online chat on his website (www.AtTheMoviesTV.com)
at 7pm ET/6pm CT/4pm PT. He’ll answer your questions and discuss films and DVDs
coming out this holiday season.

“The holiday season is truly a unique time for movie
buffs,” said Roeper. “The studios roll out some of their biggest movies of the
year and last summer’s blockbusters are now available on DVD.”

Mark your calendars: the Roeper chat takes place on
Thursday, and our Meet a Critic column launches Wednesday. While we’re at
it: Have any critics you’d like to see featured?
