USA Today’s Susan Wloszczyna chimes in with an update that should please those who are eagerly anticipating the animated sequel "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown" — and it looks like series regulars Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, and Denis Leary are going to have a lot of new company.

Queen Latifah will play a lady mammoth, Jay Leno gets to be an armadillo called Fast Tony, and Seann William Scott & Josh Peck portray a pair of playful possums.

"The trio of comical newcomers arrives in the sequel, due March 31. A global thaw threatens to turn the prehistoric world of Manfred the morose woolly mammoth, Sid the lisping sloth and Diego the snappish saber-toothed tiger into a soggy mess. Our fur-bearing heroes must warn their fellow creatures of the imminent peril.

They also are dealing with personal issues, such as possible extinction. "Manny believes he’s the last woolly mammoth on Earth, and the other animals pitch in to help him find another one," says Carlos Saldanha, who co-directed "Ice Age" and solos on the sequel."
