Dark Horizons has posted a set report for "Memoirs of a Geisha," the movie adaptation of Arthur Golden’s novel of the same name. The movie stars Zhang Ziyi as a geisha-in-training who overcomes adversities to become Japan’s most prominent geisha. The report describes the sumo wrestling scene that was shooting in L.A.: "Approximately five hundred extras were costumed in 1930s kimonos, business suits and military uniforms and were seated in the boxes surrounding the stage. Smoke was pumped into the sound stage to enhance the lighting and the sweaty, gamey atmosphere of the sumo match." Read the rest of the report here.
