Action producer
extraordinaire
Joel Silver is back on the remake trail with Logan’s Run, which he’ll
be developing for Warner Bros. In fact, they’ve already got a director, a
writer, and a general concept for the flick.
Joseph Kosinski, who’s done
award-winning commercials for Apple, Nike, and Nintendo, will be making his
feature debut with Logan’s Run.
Tim Sexton,
nominated for an Oscar for his
Children of Men
screenplay adaptation, will be writing a screenplay more in tune with the source
novel than the 1976 movie
starring Michael York.
Hollywood Reporter
writes the film "will be low-tech science fiction in a futuristic setting and
hew closer to the book than the 1976 movie. The new film will tackle idea of the
‘greater good’ and people devoting themselves to an ideology blindly, while
keeping the novel’s concepts of runners, Sanctuary and gangs outside the
system."
Numerous directors have been
attached to the project since the mid-1990s, including
Robert
Schwenke and
James
McTeigue.
Bryan Singer was set to release the film in 2005, before he flew off to
bring Superman
Returns to the screen.
