Lionsgate is getting into the kid-friendly animation business — and they’ve acquired some big names to help voice their new ‘toons.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate and Crest Animation Productions are gearing up for Alpha and Omega, a “CG animated family feature” being targeted for a 2010 release. The studio has signed Justin Long, Hayden Panettierre, Christina Ricci, Danny Glover, Larry Miller, and Dennis Hopper to provide voices for the characters in the film. From the article:
Anthony Bell (“The Boondocks“) and Ben Gluck (“Brother Bear 2“) will direct from a script by Chris Denk, which is based on an original story by Steve Moore. “Alpha and Omega” follows two bickering wolves — one a disciplined, Alpha-bred wolf (Panettiere) and the other a fun-loving, comical Omega wolf (Long) — who are captured and taken thousands of miles from their home. Determined to rejoin their pack, the two mismatched wolves begin a dangerous trek across unfamiliar terrain, battling the odds, the elements, the bears and one another — and finding love along the way.
Alpha and Omega is currently in production; according to the Reporter, work on the film will take place in Los Angeles and India.
