Video: Daniel Craig Says “I’m Not Gone Yet"

by | November 2, 2015 | Comments

There’s been a fair amount of speculation in past few weeks as to whether or not Daniel Craig will return for another James Bond film, but maybe don’t count Craig out just yet. While discussing Spectre with Rotten Tomatoes’ Grae Drake in Mexico City, it sounded an awful lot like Craig will be returning for another film.

During the interview, Craig discussed people’s love/hate relationship with the character, and how even Bond creator Ian Fleming tried to kill off 007 a few times, but that the superspy has an undeniable appeal to fans. After discussing the role, and told that he’d be missed, Craig replied “I’m not gone yet.”

Does that mean Daniel Craig will be coming back for another James Bond film? This may not be definitive proof, but this seems like a pretty strong indication that he plans to return.

We also talked to Dave Bautista about how his character, Mr. Hinx, should be in the whole movie, to Christoph Waltz about what SPECTRE’s legit ventures might be, and how the last shot of the movie made Waltz jump for joy! We asked to Craig about his surprising hidden talents, and helped Sam Smith start the Bond Song Club. Check it all out!

Ah, c’mon. Clickbait-mongers. He meant that this movie, Spectre, hasn’t begun its theatrical release yet. I hardly think he indicated plans to reprise the role.

    • mlvielh

I think it’s part that, but I also think it’s that he hasn’t decided that he’s done yet. The decision hasn’t been made therefore it’s still possible he might return. This article seems to think he must know now whether he’ll do another and that his comments are informed by that, but I think it’s still up in the air for him.

  • Mr Konstantine

In a previous interview he seemed that he had enough of James Bond on his menu

    • mlvielh

People made a big deal about that but I took it to mean he was burned out on James Bond seeing as how he just finished what was likely a long and grueling movie shoot. He just wants a break before deciding whether he wants to do another. And in later interviews it seems to be more clear that that’s what he meant.

      • 9No

Yeah, the full quote was something like “if I had to do another one right now, I’d rather slash my wrists..” Also he added that he needed a year or two break from Bond and then he’d consider making another (If they paid him enough. :D)

  • Bob

Uh, didn’t he say he’d rather slash his wrists than play James Bond again?

  • Sharon Mahart

I’m pretty sure he and Mendes are both under contract for one more film.

    • Johnny Mike

Yeah, I remember hearing after Quantum of Solace, that Craig said he’d signed on for at least 3 more films. Didn’t hear that about Mendes though.

      • Billy Milby

I’d like it to be by Martin Cambell one more time.

    • I hope so, I want them to try to top Skyfall and Casino Royale.

    • Matt Crouch

Mendes has confirmed this was his last. Craig is still unknown

  • Billy Milby

I think he really needs 5 films to really round it out. I’m just hoping that bizarre interview about slitting his wrists and hating the world was just him missing his Xanax.

    • Mr. Pedantic

      Moore -7
      Connery-6
      Brosnan-4
      Dalton-2
      Lazenby-1

Those of us with OCD need Craig to do 5, and then his successor to do 3.

  • Maxime Giroux

For fans of Daniel Craig’s James Bond, Spectre will be, I hope, a great celebration of the Bond traditions and tropes. Craig is for me the best Bond yet for a major reason: he is truly a stunning action performer, the one that makes me believe Bond is a fiercely trained killing machine. Examples? This anthology video illustrates it so intensely and gets me so pump up for the next chapter, Bond Spectre! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86gU8kr_1JM&feature=youtu.be

    • debrawells

      Agree completely!

  • uzzie

Please let this be your last Bond film. He sucks!

  • The Amazing Skeptic

What the hell is this interviewer? That is literally the most putrid outfit I’ve ever seen.

  • Honeystuff

Please….I hope he comes back. He is the BEST of them all.
