"Jacket" Director Steps on Toes at Press Junket

IGN Filmforce reports from the press junket for "The Jacket" that director John Maybury has a LOT of rather strong opinions about today’s Hollywood. The young filmmaker took shots at "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Memento" (while implying his film is better than both), soundly bashed the Academy Awards (calling it a ‘corporate event’), wondered why Thelma Schoonmaker would win the Best Editing Oscar for a three-hour film ("The Aviator"), and basically called "Million Dollar Baby" ‘a piece of expletive deleted.’ Decide for yourself whether Maybury is admirably candid or surprisingly obnoxious by reading his comments right here.
