“Visceral, legendary, insanely entertaining.” These are just a few words critics and audiences are using to describe Inde Navarrette’s performance in Obsession. Focus Features’ new horror film hit theaters this past weekend and earned both Certified Fresh and Verified Hot badges, proving that viewers are indeed obsessed. Navarrette joined Rotten Tomatoes and Focus Features to share her experience leading Curry Barker’s debut film and discussed her process as she stepped into the role of eerie, ensorcelled girlfriend Nikki. She describes the balance of seriousness and humor on set and how it shaped her performance. Navarrette also praised the actresses who inspired her the most and some of her favorite movies.
“Promising Young Woman [is] one of my favorite Focus films. Carey Mulligan in that film is absolutely breathtakingly raw and real, and just so funny,” Navarrette says. “I mean, what a way to talk about what it’s like to be a woman and what a take about it. And it has one of the best twists that I’ve seen.”
Tickets for Obsession are on sale now. Watch the full video above, then check out Navarrette’s recommended movies below. Be sure to also explore the collection on Fandango at Home.
