Houston Critics Award Winners Announced: La La Land Wins Big

La La Land takes home seven awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

The Houston Film Critics Society announced this morning on Twitter the winners for their 10th Annual Award Show, celebrated last night at MATCH. Read through for the full list.


Texas Independent Filmmaking Award: Tower (2016) 99%

Best Director: Damien Chazelle, La La Land (2016) 91%

Best Actor: Casey Affleck, Manchester by the Sea (2016) 96%

Best Actress: Natalie Portman, Jackie (2016) 87%

Best Screenplay Taylor Sheridan, Hell or High Water (2016) 97%

Best Cinematography: Linus Sandgren, La La Land (2016) 91%

Best Original Score: Justin Hurwitz, La La Land (2016) 91%

Best Original Song: “City of Stars”, La La Land (2016) 91%

Best Animated Film: Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) 97%

Best Foreign Film: The Handmaiden (Ah-ga-ssi) (2016) 95%

Technical Achievement: For Outstanding Production Design, La La Land (2016) 91%

Best Documentary: O.J.: Made in America (2016) 100%
