Fox Plans to Deliver Some Multiplex "Payne"

You’ll soon get to see a movie version of the popular video game "Max Payne," if Fox has anything to say about it. The Hollywood Reporter informs us that the studio has purchased the rights to the noirish action game, and the plot goes a little something like this: "Max Payne tells the story of a New York cop whose wife and baby are killed by thugs high on a designer drug called Valkyr…

… Devastated, the cop joins the Drug Enforcement Agency and goes undercover with the mob to find the source of the drug. Framed for the murder of his partner and hunted down by both the mob and the police, he is forced to wage a one-man war against crime."

No word yet on who’s writing, directing, or starring — but if a movie can be described as "Sin City Meets Dirty Harry," well, that’s a movie we’ll want to check out.
