David Duchovny has
recently revealed to IGN Movies the next X-Files movie is further along
in pre-production. Shooting is (very) tentatively planned to start this
November, with a summer 2008 release date in mind.
But
how’s this different from the other X-Files movie rumors and false starts
we’ve endured for years? Apparently, this time, there’s something resembling a
script floating around.
"I’m
actually supposed to see it next week!"
Duchovny said,
"Before I would just say that [there was a movie] because they told me. But now,
after talking to [series creator]
Chris [Carter] —
he’s been giving me progress reports — he actually called yesterday, and said
‘Next week, you should have something to read.’"
Duchovny
confirmed that
Gillian Anderson has signed on to reprise her Scully role, and that the
movie will be a standalone feature that’s not too involved with the series’
"mythology" story arc.
Given
that it’s been five years since the show ended (and about seven years since a
really good episode), if this movie finally has a chance of being
made, you bet we want to believe.
