Ewan McGregor has just signed on to a project that will allow him to play four roles in the same film. Let’s let Variety sort it out with the most clarity: "In the period film within a period film, McGregor will play a 1930s Hollywood star, his stand-in and both of the 18th-century characters they play in the movie they’re shooting."
Still confused? OK. The "multi-layered script deals with an epic pic being shot in the 1930s about the Jacobite rebellion of 1745, in which Scottish forces loyal to Bonnie Prince Charlie tried to overthrow their English rulers. When the star goes missing, the producers trick an unassuming extra into filling his shoes, with surprising results." (I think I got it now.)
Writer/director Peter Capaldi ("Strictly Sinatra") is giving fellow Scotsman McGregor a great opportunity to show his many sides in this as-yet-untitled film – which is sure to have Ewan’s fans seeing double.
