Marlon Brando‘s eldest son, Christian, succumbed to pneumonia in a Los Angeles hospital Saturday morning. He was 49.
As a young man, Brando seemed poised to enter the family business — he secured small roles in The Secret Life of an American Wife and I Love You, Alice B. Toklas! — but as an adult, he was better-known for his various brushes with the law than his acting ability.
Ultimately, Brando will probably be best remembered for his role in the 1990 death of his half-sister Cheyenne’s boyfriend, Dag Drollet, which earned him a voluntary manslaughter conviction. Brando’s name also surfaced during Robert Blake‘s trial for the 2001 murder of Bonnie Lee Bakley, when Blake’s attorneys claimed Brando was involved in Bakley’s death.
Brando family attorney David Seeley told reporters that Brando was not married when he died, and did not have any children.
