It was a pretty tight race from beginning to end, but The Shawshank Redemption has emerged as the winner of the 1994 Movies Showdown!

Pulp Fiction actually took the early lead, but the contest was never a sure thing for either film; as the votes poured in, the match-up shifted only slightly from one side to the other and back again, and neither side ever developed a lead any larger than a few percentage points. Ultimately, though, Frank Darabont’s adaptation of the Stephen King story came out on top by a final result of 54% of the vote to Pulp Fiction’s 46% — still a commanding win, if not necessarily a landslide.

As always, thanks to everyone who participated and followed along, and stay tuned for our next showdown!
