"Batman Begins" Takes in $15M on Wednesday

"Batman Begins" took in $15M on Wednesday, ranking 11th on the all-time single day gross chart for a Wednesday, according to figures released by Boxofficemojo.com. While the $15M figure is decent, it is probably lower than what Warner Bros. expected and nowhere near the $40M Wednesday opening record set by "Spider-Man 2" in 2004. This figure is consistent with the report that the midnight screening of "Batman Begins" was only "sparsely attended." As it stands, "Batman Begins"’ Wednesday opening gross sits between "Independence Day" ($17M) and "Men in Black" ($14M), both of which went on to have $90M plus 5-day grosses.
