Director Ridley Scott and movie star Russell Crowe will combine forces to bring "A Good Year" to the big screen, says Variety. Adapted from the novel by Peter Mayle (by a variety of screenwriters), the movie is set to go into production before the end of the year.

Screenwriters Marc Klein, Ted Griffin, and Tom & Jez Butterworth have combined to adapt Mr. Mayle’s tale into movie form, and the story focuses on "an investment banker who loses his job and moves to Provence to take over a failing vineyard owned by his just-deceased uncle — a move complicated by the arrival of an unknown American cousin."
