A Toast to 2016! – Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb are slated to host this two-hour primetime NBC News special featuring interviews with Wanda Sykes, Michael Buble, Simone Biles, and more. It airs Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution – The chart topping rapper will host this new holiday special to help viewers party into the new year. It airs Dec. 31 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly (pictured) – New Year’s programming event features The Voice host and Today show co-host Carson Daly and former Spice Girl Mel B welcome musical guests Alicia Keys, Pentatonix, and Blake Shelton. It airs Dec. 31 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

Marathons

Animal Kingdom (TNT)

Animal Kingdom – If you missed the sexy crime family drama starring Ellen Barkin when it debuted this summer, you’re in luck. TNT is re-airing all 10 episodes of the show’s first season Dec. 28 beginning at 1 p.m. ET on TNT.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives – Join Guy Fieri as he samples plenty of American comfort foods from chicken to beef and everything in between. The marathon airs Dec. 31 from 6 p.m. ET to 3 a.m. ET on the Food Network.

Premiere New Year – The Investigation Discovery channel is sending a love letter to fans with a full day of true crime tales. The marathon begins Jan. 1 at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT and features Homicide Hunter: Joe Kenda kicking off the programming block. A sneak peek of the new series Murder Chose Me airs at 8 p.m. ET.

The Mick (pictured)Kaitlin Olson of Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame hits a new comedic stride in this dysfunctional family comedy, which premieres Jan. 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

Ransom – This internationally co-produced drama follows Eric Beaumont (Luke Roberts, Black Sails), an experienced crisis and hostage negotiator, and his team as they solve kidnap and ransom cases. The series premieres Jan. 1 at 8:30 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on CBS.

Sherlock (pictured) – Star Benedict Cumberbatch returns as the titular detective in season 4, which features three new installments on PBS’ Masterpiece. The first episode, titled “The Six Thatchers,” promises a full range of emotions as Sherlock gets back to work on British soil and Doctor Watson (Martin Freeman) tackles fatherhood. Sherlock kicks off Jan. 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on PBS.

The Celebrity Apprentice – Action star and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is the new host and welcomes new advisers Steve Ballmer, Tyra Banks, Warren Buffett, and Jessica Alba. Contestants include comedian Jon Lovitz, retired WNBA star Lisa Leslie, and Boy George. It airs Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

The cold weather ushers in some familiar TV favorites like Homeland, Girls, and The Path that debut new seasons after the holidays, while fall titles like How to Get Away With Murder and The Walking Dead will return from a quick holiday break. Many new shows like The Mick, Planet Earth II, and The Young Pope will debut. Throw in a few TV movies (Beaches, Christmas special Doctor Who: The Return of Doctor Mysterio) and some events (Madonna: Rebel Heart Tour, Hairspray Live!), and we’ll call it “Winter TV.” Here’s the big list of upcoming premiere dates, starting in December through February.
