Will Ferrell Walks Sydney Red Carpet Tonight

Catch the Land of the Lost star and director at George St

Stay classy, Sydney: film fans will have a chance to catch Ron Burgundy himself, Mr. Will Ferrell, when the star walks the George St cinema red carpet tonight for the Austalian premiere of his latest comedy Land of the Lost.

To “comedy” we might add “fantasy”, “psychedlic trips” and “giant rampaging dinosaurs”, for Land of the Lost is a big-screen remake of the trippy Sid and Marty Krofft TV series of the ’70s, complete with reptilian mind-controllers the Sleestaks, monkey men and parallel universes. And… Cher. You’ll see what we mean.

Ferrell plays Dr. Rick Marshall, a disgraced “quantum paleontologist” whose wacked-out theory about interdimensional travel proves to be right when he and his companions (including the very funny Danny McBride) slip through a vortex and into a strange world of dinosaurs, monkey men and lizard people. In other words, a bit like Las Vegas.

The film is directed by Brad Silberling, who’ll also be along for the festivities this evening. You can glimpse the dudes from 5.30 this evening (don’t worry, Ferrell’s tall, you won’t miss him).

Land of the Lost is released nationwide on June 11.
