Over the past 15 years, we’ve established ourselves as the most trusted source for movie fans to see what critics are saying about their favorite films. The Tomatometer has become the standard measurement of critical reaction, based on aggregated ratings and reviews from hundreds of critics. We’re very excited to announce that (for the first time ever) we’re applying the Tomatometer to television.
Just like we’ve done for movies, the Rotten Tomatoes’ TV Zone provides Tomatometer ratings for TV seasons – along with episode recaps and detailed show information. Our Tomatometer scores will be based on the aggregated reviews of TV critics from hundreds of sources – including newspapers, websites and magazines.
We’ll have more than just reviews though; you can visit the TV Zone to find interviews with TV stars, as well as articles and coverage of key, TV related stories, including the upcoming Emmy Awards on Sept 22.
When you visit the TV Zone, here’s what you can find…
On the TV tab in the navigation, we list tonight’s premieres and new episodes that viewers might want to see.
You’ll see a Tomatometer score for each season of a TV show. And each TV season gets its own page, with cast & show info and (of course) links to reviews.
And we’ll have episode recaps, provided by our friends at Wikia.
We have a lot of great things planned for the TV Zone, and we plan to expand our coverage and add new features in the coming weeks. This is a beta launch, so we’ll be making some adjustments for a while, and we definitely value your feedback.
This is one of the biggest expansions ever of the Rotten Tomatoes brand, and we look forward to bringing you a whole new, exciting world to our users.
And finally, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay in the know about what’s fresh in theaters, on DVD and now on TV.
