RT and Current TV team up to bring movie reviews straight to your living room.

Those of you who have been channel-surfing on cable for the past few years may already be familiar with Current TV, an independent US cable channel co-founded by Al Gore and incorporating a lot of viewer-submitted content. And we’re thinking those of you who are reading this are probably aware of a humble little movie review site known as Rotten Tomatoes. Well, if you’ve ever hoped that these two fine companies would someday work together to combine their respective powers, like the Wonder Twins, then your hopes are about to be fulfilled!

That’s right, everyone. We are teaming up with Current TV to bring you a new Rotten Tomatoes TV show, centered entirely around movies and movie reviews, that will debut next Thursday, March 5th, on Current (you can find your local listings HERE)! The show will feature funny and intelligent commentary on opening movies, but will also incorporate segments focusing on things like DVD releases and extra features, movie trailers, classics, and Top 5 lists. But ultimately, what will set this show apart from all the rest is that YOU will be a part of it. No, not the creepy guy behind you in the trenchcoat. YOU, as in, the everyday RT user. See the video below to get a sense of what we’re talking about here:

You might be thinking, “Wait a second. How exactly is this going to work?” In a nutshell, user/viewer participation will be a big part of the show, so you will be asked to submit webcam reviews directly to Current’s website, after which their brilliant editors will splice them into a cohesive format and present them on the show. As mentioned, the first episode will be airing next Thursday, which means Current is now looking for webcam reviews of the movies opening this week. Also, you’ll have the choice of submitting full webcam reviews, 3-word text reviews, or even a haiku for the more artistically inclined. The links below will take you to the appropriate submission page for each movie, as well as provide you with instructions on what to do:

Submission for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li
Submission for Crossing Over
Submission for Echelon Conspiracy

So what are you waiting for? This is your chance to shine and show the world (or, at least, our viewers) that you know what you’re talking about when it comes to film. Submit now, and you can even make it onto the very first episode! And for those of you outside of the US, you can also access the show on Current’s website. In any case, both we and Current are quite excited about this partnership, so we hope you’ll enjoy the show, and we hope we’ll have many contributors from the RT Community!
