Variety brings some remake news that’s interesting mainly because we’re dealing with a French crime story and not an Asian horror flick. Warner Independent Pictures will produce and release an Americanized version of Andre Techine’s "Les Voleurs," which means our version will most likely be called "Thieves." Screenwriter Larry Gross ("True Crime," "We Don’t Live Here Anymore") has earned adaptation duty, and for those unfamiliar with the original film, Variety describes the remake like so: "New version will be set in New Orleans but will follow the original’s theme of a black sheep son born into a family of thieves, who becomes a cop."
