From Casey Nicholaw, co-director of The Book of Mormon, and film writer/director Karey Kirkpatrick comes a new Broadway musical: Something Rotten!. Set in the 1590s from the viewpoint of two playwright brothers, living in the shadow of one certain Bard, who set out to write world’s first musical and make their mark in history.
And now Rotten Tomatoes is teaming up with The Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel and American Airlines to give Something Rotten! fans a chance to attend the completely original new Broadway musical’s anticipated world premiere on Wednesday, April 22 at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street)!
Rotten Tomatoes Editor-in-Chief Matt Atchity said, “We’ve been waiting for the right moment to introduce our very first Certified Rotten award, and there’s no more deserving recipient than Something Rotten!. Writer Karey Kirkpatrick has written screenplays for half a dozen Certified Fresh films and we’re excited to see him team up with his brother Wayne and best-selling author John O’Farrell for this Rotten recognition.”
