IGN Filmforce carries some news from the AP, and it seems that the "Spider-Man 3" production is taking a quick side-journey to Cleveland, Ohio. Seems it’s a lot cheaper to film there and, through the use of special effects, the city can be digitally altered to better replicate the NTC skyline. (Hey, at least they’re not shooting in Vancouver.)
"The Associated Press reports that Sony’s Spider-Man 3 will be conducting exterior location filming in Cleveland, Ohio next month. It was reportedly cheaper to shut down streets there than in New York City, where the film is set. The city’s convention center has also offered the production free soundstage space.
"A small second-unit crew will film action shots that don’t involve the entire cast. It is doubtful that stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst will be involved in the shooting, which is expected to last 10 days," the AP reports.
The article also suggests that Cleveland’s skyline might be digitally extended to more closely resemble Manhattan."
