Rebecca Gilman’s "Spinning Into Butter" will make the leap from stage to screen, thanks to some help from producer / leading lady Sarah Jessica Parker ("L.A. Story"). Variety informs that stage director Mark Brokaw will also make the jump with his feature film debut. Ms. Gilman will stay on and adapt her play into screenplay form.

The story is about a "dean of students at a New England college who is thrust into the investigation of a racial hate crime. She’s forced to confront her own feelings about race and her administration’s desire to maintain a politically correct posture." Sarah J. will be playing the dean, obviously.

Shooting on "Spinning" will commence in New York come October.
