Yeah, I thought it was a little crazy when I first read it, too. But at least one source seems to think it’ll happen.
Starpulse.com breaks the news that Aussie star Russell Crowe may be next in line to play the legendary detective, and also that this new Holmes will be just a little bit … tougher: "Unlike previous films this one is going to focus more on Holmes’ physical attributes, including his talent for bare-knuckle and sword fighting, which were both mentioned in the original books."
The producers are allegedly going forward with the blessing and involvement of the estate of Arthur Conan Doyle, which all sounds well and good, but … Russell Crowe? As Sherlock Holmes? I just don’t see it — although obviously I wouldn’t mind giving the guy a fair shot.
