Gabba Gabba Hey! The story of the Ramones, perhaps the most influential American punk band of the 1970s, may be getting the biopic treatment soon.

According to Variety (via IGN FilmForce), producer Rory Rosegarten has purchased the rights to "I Slept with Joey Ramone," an authorized biography by Legs McNeill and the singer’s brother Mickey Leigh.

"[It’s] not recycled party-line, band and publicist approved fodder," Rosegarten is quoted as saying. "Like his life it’ll be full of humor, drama, kindness, anger and poignancy. It will be written with love, sensitivity and fairness to all involved. The truth won’t be sacrificed, not for myself either. The truth according to not just one witness, but two."

Rosegarten has also negotiated a deal with Ramone’s mother for the use of the band’s music. The Ramones have been the subject of several films, including the comedy "Rock ‘n’ Roll High School" and the documentary "End of the Century."
