Horror remakes are not, by any means, a new phenomenon, but as studios scramble to find franchise properties with real long-term prospects, we’ve seen renewed interest in resurrecting some of the most popular films in the genre. Recently, Halloween made a successful comeback by kicking off a new trilogy of films, while series like Child’s PlayPuppet Master, and Poltergeist all hit the reset button within the last five years, to mixed results. This year, we’ve already seen an attempt to revive The Grudge, the Saw franchise will get something of a soft reboot with Spiral, and under the supervision of writer-producer Jordan Peele, we’ll get another Candyman movie in June. On top of all that, reboots of the Texas Chainsaw MassacreScream, and Hellraiser franchises are also reportedly in the works.

With all of that in mind, we wanted to know what other horror franchises would be worth bringing back for another go. Sure, there have already been attempts to revive classic series like A Nightmare on Elm StreetFriday the 13th, and The Omen, but with the genre enjoying something of a modern renaissance, some talented young filmmakers could make their marks with new interpretations of the stories we’re all familiar with. Plus, there are a number of more recent franchises that could, quite frankly, benefit from a snappy makeover. So check out our list below of potential horror franchises that could be rebooted, and vote for the one you’d most like to see. Don’t agree with the choices we’ve come up with?
