Legendary actor Al Pacino will join the (obviously massive) cast of Steven Soderbergh‘s "Ocean’s Thirteen," says Variety. Odds are he’ll be playing a villain, but plot details are being kept quiet. Pacino joins newcomer Ellen Barkin and series regulars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, etc.
Says Variety: "Al Pacino has been added to Steven Soderbergh’s "Ocean’s Thirteen" gang.
Jerry Weintraub is producing the pic, which has a July 21 start date. Shooting is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. "Rounders" scribes Brian Koppelman and David Levien penned the script.
Details of the plot are being kept under wraps, but Warners revealed that Pacino will be playing Willie Banks, the owner of a high-profile casino and hotel in Las Vegas."
Previous reports indicate that neither Julia Roberts nor Catherine Zeta-Jones will be on board this time — although the "Ocean" flicks snag cast-members like flypaper, so only time will tell.
Additionally, Cinematical reports that Clooney wants to find some room for Sacha Baron Cohen (aka Ali G) in this second sequel.
Also currently scheduled to return for "Ocean 3" are Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, and Andy Garcia.
