New on Hulu in October 2020

Horror anthology Monsterland and Marvel TV series Helstrom are the Hulu Original Series headed to the streaming service in October.

Hulu is preparing for Halloween by adding a slew of scary movies for the month of October. But there’s also plenty of original fare headed to the streaming service this month.

Star-studded horror anthology series Monsterland, based on Nathan Ballingrud’s “North American Lake Monsters,” hits Hulu on October 2. It’ll be joined by another Hulu Original series, Helstrom, later in the month. That title is the streaming service’s latest collaboration with Marvel, telling the story of the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer.

Other additions include Terminator: Dark Fate, the final season of Homeland, and the fall TV premieres hitting ABC and NBC this month. Read on to find out what else is headed to the streamer and what’s leaving in October.

HIGHLIGHTS

Description: Encounters with mermaids, fallen angels, and other strange beasts drive broken people to desperate acts in Monsterland, an anthology series based on the collection of stories from Nathan Ballingrud’s “North American Lake Monsters.”

Premiere Date: October 2

Description: Decades after Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) prevented Judgment Day, a lethal new Terminator is sent to eliminate the future leader of the resistance. In a fight to save mankind, battle-hardened Sarah Connor teams up with an unexpected ally (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and an enhanced super soldier to stop the deadliest Terminator yet. Humanity’s fate hangs in the balance in this action-packed thrill ride.

Critics Consensus: Terminator: Dark Fate represents a significant upgrade over its immediate predecessors, even if it lacks the thrilling firepower of the franchise’s best installments.

Premiere Date: October 9

Description: As the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer, Helstrom follows Daimon (Tom Austen) and Ana Helstrom (Sydney Lemmon), and their complicated dynamic, as they track down the worst of humanity — each with their own attitude and skills.

Premiere Date: October 16

Homeland: Season 8 (2020)

85%

Description: The final season of Homeland finds Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) recovering from months of brutal confinement in a Russian gulag. Her body is healing, but her memory remains fractured – which is a problem for Saul (Mandy Patinkin), now National Security Advisor to the newly ascendant President Warner (Beau Bridges).

Critics Consensus: Homeland returns to form with a tautly thrilling final season that fittingly finishes the job Carrie Mathison started all those years ago.

Premiere Date: October 26
