Fresh out of my inbox comes a press release from New Line Cinema, and this is the news: "New Line Cinema has struck a deal with filmmaker Don Coscarelli to bring a new version of his cult horror film "Phantasm" to the big screen. Coscarelli will produce the remake of the classic film, which will give a 21st century upgrade to the original 1979 film. The new version of "Phantasm" is being designed as a relaunch of a potential horror franchise." So that’s all we know for sure: Coscarelli (who also directed "Bubba Ho-Tep") gave the thumbs up, so off we go to remake country…yet again. But hey, New Line did a bang-up job of remaking "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," so let’s not get too ornery, horror fans.
