Dylan McDermott will join former Miss World Aishwarya Rai in "The Mistress of Spices," according to Variety. Rai will play the proprietor of a spice shop, with the spices having the power to heal an assortment of ailments. The spices lose their healing properties when she falls in love with an American, played by McDermott. "Spices" is based on Chitra Divakaruni’s novel of the same name. Production begins next week with Paul Mayeda Berges directing. McDermott recently appeared in TV’s "The Grid" opposite Julianna Margulies. Rai can be seen in "Bride and Prejudice," opening in New York and Los Angeles this Friday.
