Matt Groening Discusses "The Simpsons Movie" (and "Futurama!")

And if you don’t know who Matt Groening is, then you probably have no interest in seeing "The Simpsons Movie" in the first place…

Mr. Groening (aka the creator of all things Springfield) recently gave a solid interview to Crave Online, the highlights of which focused on where the series was headed, how the movie would impact the series (not at all), AND some mildly juicy details on those "Futurama" DVD movies that should hit stores some time next year.

Other questions answered include "Which Simpsons writers and directors are involved in the movie?", "How much nudity will be in the flick?" and "What’s the deal with those Futurama movies?" — to which Groening responded: "Well, I was frustrated when it got cancelled, but Fox, 20th Television is the one who came back and said, "Would you like to do a DVD movie?" and we said, "Let’s do two" and they said, "Well, why not three?" and we said, "Well, why not four?" and they said, "Okay, four" and then that’s it."

I also found it amusing that Matt Groening and I have the same favorite "Simpsons" episode. (RIP, Frank Grimes!) "The Simpsons Movie" hits theaters this July.
