Marilyn Manson Moves to Salem, and Other TV News

by | January 21, 2016 | Comments

This week in TV news, Kimmy Schmidt is renewed, Steve Harvey is forgiven, Marilyn Manson moves to Salem, and more!

While TV personality Steve Harvey has been invited back to host the Miss Universe pageant again next year after mistakenly crowning Miss Colombia as the winner, the error has had him feeling guilty, knowing it may follow him through the rest of his career. But Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutiérrez – now probably the most famous Miss Universe runner up — visited him on his talk show on Tuesday of this week to offer forgiveness, and of course a hard time. One clip from the show sees Harvey telling her, “I cast you into a spotlight, a place that I never intended to.” Gutierrez explained, “It was like a nightmare — watching the videos — I couldn’t believe that happened to me.” But then acknowledged, “I already moved on, this is our destiny, that’s why we are here.” She joked that she had been telling others of her affection for the host, but had second thoughts after the big mistake. Harvey thanked her for her forgiveness and they went on to discuss their favorite viral memes regarding the incident.

James Franco kisses HIMSELF in this new online video. The Hollywood star can be seen flirting with his own reflection in a mirror in the bizarre clip. After some small talk he goes in for the kiss - and snogs himself. The actor - who can be seen on screen in cinemas in rock climbing drama 127 Hours - also sports a moustache for the 54-second film, part of the New York Times Hollywood issue. Natalie Portman, Matt Damon and Javier Bardem also appear in Internet clips. Bom chicka wow wow. David Simon and the revered team behind The Wire are reuniting for Simon’s new series The Deuce.  HBO has ordered the series, which will star James Franco and is entrenched in the legal issues surrounding the porn industry and prostitution, the ferocity of the sweeping cocaine endemic, the rise of HIV, and the real estate market making its way to the turbulent scene in 1970s/1980s New York.  The series is inspired in part by the real life twin brothers, Vincent and Frankie Martino, who were major players in the explosive and lucrative sex industry at the time.  Mr. Franco will play the twins, and is accompanied by an all-star cast, including Maggie Gyllenhaal who plays “Candy,” a Times Square hooker.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Netflix’s Emmy-nominated comedy The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has been renewed for a third season long before it’s second season even premieres on April 15th. Co-Creator Tina Fey says that she loves the creative freedom that Netflix provides, but assures Kimmy‘s loyal viewers that the show will remain family friendly in the upcoming seasons. Kimmy Schmidt isn’t the only lucky lady returning to Netflix in 2016. Grace and Frankie‘s second season will premiere May 6th and Marvel’s Jessica Jones will also be returning for a second season.

WGN America announced today that legendary music icon Marilyn Manson will join the cast of their hit supernatural thriller, Salem, in a special guest starring role. Manson will portray “Thomas Dinley,” a barber and surgeon who is the go-to man in Salem, for everything from a shave and a haircut, to being leeched, bled, sliced open or sewn up. The four-time Grammy nominee is no stranger to the show, having previously collaborated with Salem‘s composer Tyler Bates on the show’s opening title sequence, “Cupid Carries a Gun.” Manson’s other TV acting credits include Sons of Anarchy, Californication, Eastbound & Downand the voice of The Shadow in season three of Once Upon a Time.

El Rey Network will be broadcasting their third annual Rip Your Heart Out marathon this Valentine’s Day weekend. The 45-hour marathon will begin Saturday, February 13th at 6AM with “Black Tickets,” an episode of the cult horror anthology series Freddy’s Nightmares. The marathon will include more episodes of Freddy’s Nightmares, which originally aired in syndication from 1988 through 1990, as well as all five films in the original Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The marathon will be hosted by Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund, who shared with us his Five Favorite Films last October. You can see the entire schedule here at Bloody Disgusting.

Why does Maggie Gyllenhaal get work? She’s the worst.since Chloë Sevigny. Like seriously the Nickleback of acting.
