Liftoff! RT Launches its Best Sci-Fi Movies List!

You are traveling through another dimension. A dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop: Rotten Tomatoes’ Journey Through Sci-Fi, our list of the 100 best reviewed sci-fi movies!

You wouldn’t think it but critics love sci-fi. For example: even movies that fill out the lower portions of this list are among our most beloved ("Gattaca"), most quoted ("Total Recall"), and most discussed ("A.I. Artificial Intelligence;" what an ending!). And with stuff like that in the bottom quarter in the list, everything above it’s gold, right?

You bet. It’s a hit parade of influential and groundbreaking (visually and narratively) films of the last 80 years, ranging from mainstream ("Star Wars," "Blade Runner," "Terminator 2"), obscure ("Save the Green Planet!"), and the outright out there ("Altered States," "Brazil").

No doubt everyone will have something to say about a few movie placements, so we encourage you to express yourself here in the comments or on our dedicated forum thread. One thing’s for sure: everyone, not just connoisseurs of high art cinema, will appreciate the delightful irony of what placed at #69.

Now check out the rest of the list!
